The Katona József Theatre is the best known Hungarian theatre company - a public theatre, supported mainly by the City of Budapest. As an independent company, it was born in 1982, seceding of the National Theatre of Budapest, led by general director Gábor Székely and art director Gábor Zsámbéki. Since 1989 the post of general director has been held by Gábor Zsámbéki with Gábor Máté as general stage director, Tamás Ascher and Péter Gothár at his side as stage directors. Besides them, Andor Lukáts as well as guest directors of the younger generation regularly direct on its stage.

IVANOV the highly successful performance of the Katona József Színház in Budapest, that has had an enormously enthusiastic welcome in many great cities of the world (including Paris, Sydney, New York and Moscow) will be performed with English subtitles at 7 pm., on the 8th of January, 2010,
